Tagged...this one's for you Christi!

Four random things I like about my husband-
This is the easiest yet hardest part of this tag. There is so much about my husband that I don't just like, but love. It is hard to narrow it down to 4 and to put them into words, but here is my best attempt:

1- I love that Jared is sensitive. He is not ashamed to shed a tear and when it comes to things related to family relationships, especially, he is wonderfully sensitive.

2- He is an amazing father. He would do anything for his baby girl. He has no fear of poopy diapers (in fact, I think he changed the first one Kenzie ever had) or runny noses. He is the one that remembers to give Kenz Tylenol before shots and makes sure she gets her naps when we are away from home. He is the best entertainer during church and is always willing to chase her wherever she wants to go, at home or away. He does bath time, story time, brushes teeth, everything. I truly feel like I have an equal partner in parenthood.

3- Jared is very logical and thinks things out very thoroughly before making decisions. We are very similar in this regard, so it makes life great. It has also saved us a lot of money and, while sometimes it can make decision making take awhile, I'm so glad that he is such a thinker/planner.

4- Jared is always willing to try new things, be it food or learning how to install our own sprinkling system. He isn't afraid of the unknown. He just goes for it. He is always willing to go on the unique adventures I plan (and usually without question or complaint) and joins in all of the crazy Adams chores and fun with a smile.

all thanks to TiVo of course. That way I can watch them whenever and in less than half the time. (Another thing I love about Jared---he bought TiVo before we were married or we would never have it).

1- Ice cream, especially mint chocolate chip!!! I should say that it is frozen custard--I do love Coneys, but I can't help myself--I love all ice cream.

3- Red Robbin's onion rings with ranch dip
4- Cold cereal

Four places that I would like to visit-
1- Italy
2- Africa--wouldn't a safari be great!
3- Hawaii
4- A great South American tour to visit mine and Jared's missions and the rest of the continent

Four things I am looking forward to in the next year-
1- The birth of our second baby (January)
2- A trip this fall to the northwest to visit my sister Katee, Jared's sister Cathy, and my should-be-sister Marianne
3- Eating cucumbers and squash from our garden this fall
4- The beginning of finishing our basement (I would say finishing the basement, but I don't really expect that it will be done within a year :))

Kenzie's Announcement

"I'm going to be a big sister!"

As you can see from this picture of Kenzie right after she woke up, she is really excited that her mom is having another baby. For all of you that we haven't been able to tell personally, we are very excited for baby number two who is due January 14th. After seeing how Kenzie reacted to baby Lucy yesterday (her newest cousin), we're hoping she gets over her jealousies before January. :) Life will definitely be interesting and fun with a 21 month old and a newborn. We can't wait!

Brian Head with the Christensens

Last week we spent the week at Brian Head with the Christensens. J Dale and Linda had rented a nice cabin for us all to stay in. I won't lie, I was a little leery about spending an entire week away from home with a toddler and having her sleeping in the same room as us (if you have kids, you know how that is!) but it turned out pretty great. We had a fun time and were able to see some neat things. Kenzie was usually the earliest riser of the bunch though, so there was no sleeping in. :)

I love this picture....This is Kenzie at the Brigham Young house in St. George. We did have to leave the tour early because she was so excited about the old piano they had there that once we moved to the next room, she took off back to the room with the piano and was headed straight under the barrier ropes to go play us a tune. We caught her just in time, but then it was kicking and screaming and a major fit, so we headed out the back door to not disturb the rest of the tour. I think we need to get our own piano!
We spent a good part of a day at Cedar Breaks. The scenery is amazing. We had a park ranger give us a little chat about the geology of the area and then because his real expertise was Native Americans, we had him give us that speech. Very interesting.

We also had a nice hike around Alpine Pond while we were at Cedar Breaks. Great hike!
Another day, we went to Yankee Meadow Reservoir, close to Parowan and had a picnic and fished and then drove out to Parowan gap to see the petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks that are out there. When I went to the Visitor's Bureau, the lady there was very excited to tell me about the dinosaur tracks and that they were something special and "extra". I felt like I was privy to a great secret! They are totally unmarked, so thankfully when we got there, there was also a huge scout troop (I me so big they were hauling around their own porta-potties) just arriving. Their leader said we could tag along with them, so we did and actually got to see dinosaur foot prints. Who knew Parowan, Utah had so much to offer?! :)

Other events: We saw Les Miserables at Tuachan. Amazing!, we saw part of the Greenshow at the Shakespearean Festival until it got rained out, we hiked in Bryce Canyon, and attended church in a small branch in Panguitch Lake. I also went with my sister-in-law Christi to the Wild Flower Festival at Cedar Breaks (a hike with a guide telling about the vegetation--I learned a ton) and then to a great little quilt shop.
To finish this long post, here is another favorite shot of Kenzie. This was behind the cabin. She loved to be outside. Thanks to the aunts and cousins who constantly chased her and indulged her by taking here where she wanted to go!

Summer Fun

We've been having a lot of fun this summer...loving the great, hot weather! Here are a few pictures of some of the things we have been doing. We have also been eating peas and radishes from our garden and loving that as well.

July 4, 2008. Boating in Morgan with the Adams'. This was Kenzie's get up. The glasses and hat didn't last long, but they made for a great picture!

Jared wake boarding at East Canyon, July 4, 2008. It was a perfect day for being on the boat. Not too many people, a little over cast, and great water. To finish off the day we had dutch oven dinner down by the river where my parents are building their house, watched Morgan's firework display, and enjoyed Bonnee and Kyle's firework spectacle along with lighting a few sparklers and throwing a few Snaps. It was a great 4th of July. We did a little 4-wheeling on the 3rd and hauled hay on the 5th. Can't beat a good weekend of working hard and playing hard!
