5 Years Old

Wow.  We have a five year old!  A five year old who can hardly wait to start kindergarten.  Her last day of preschool was the day after her birthday and since then, she has been talking about kindergarten.  I took her in for her wellness check and 5 year old shots the day after her birthday.  For two days after, she told everyone she saw, strangers and all, that she had her kindergarten shots.  Good thing we still have a few more months, because I am not ready for kindergarten! 

Kenzie had a fun birthday. Okay, let's be honest.  She has really celebrated a birth week, not just a day.

On Friday, she went on her b-day shopping trip with Grandma Christensen.  Linzie got to go along as her sidekick.  They went to Toys R Us and then to Coneys for lunch.  Both girls LOVED getting to see Grandpa at Coneys.  They also got to be the test subjects for a possible new summer product at Coneys--the Banana Dog.  It was a total hit.  If they have anything to say about it, it will be on the menu tomorrow.

On Sunday, Easter, Grandpa and Grandma Adams and Karlee come to our house.  They went to church with us and had Easter dinner.  (Easter is another post...we'll see if I get to it).  Grandma showed up with an amazing cake she had made so we got to celebrate with them as well.

On Tuesday, we did our celebration.  Our plans had to be slightly rearranged last minute, but Kenzie didn't mind.

For breakfast she requested blue pancakes. Not sure where that came from, but happy to oblige.

Jared brought her home from preschool and then we spent the day partying.  It was Spring Break for students in Utah County, so everywhere we went was crazy crowded--other than that, we had a blast.

We went to Salem pond for a picnic lunch and playing...

We then went to Trafalga...remember that crazy busy Spring Break thing...this place was a mad house.  In the past, we have had someone following us around to let us on rides.  This day, we had to park a mile away in some waste land and wait in long lines to ride the few rides that were open.  Our kids still thought it was great...we were about crazy.

After Trafalga, we headed to the birthday girl's dinner place of choice, McDonalds. 

 Next stop...home so there would still be some daylight so she could enjoy her birthday present...

After a great spin outside, a ride to the mailbox, and a little basketball (if you look closely, you can see Jamen holding a basketball.  He would not let her ball go, even walked to the mailbox carrying it.), we made it inside for cake and ice cream, with our friends, the Runyans.  This year's cake request was a fairy land cake.

Happy Birthday, Kenzie!  It is amazing what 5 years is like in the life of a child.  You are now in the 50th percentile for height, but not on the weight chart.  That has not changed in the last 5 years.  You love to write and are learning to read.  You are a very giving and kind girl.  You are super perceptive and don't let anything get past you.  You are inquisitive and are always asking questions, especially about how things work and why things happen.  You watch out for others and you want to make the world a happy and fair place.  You love being with friends.  You have good friends at school and in our neighborhood, but your best friend is Linzie.  You are helpful and like to do extra chores to earn money. You are determined and a bit of a perfectionist.  We love you!!
